Hi all- my name is Noah and I'm a 25 year old from California.
I have a bunch of interests and hobbies such as aquaria, herptiles, invertebrates, birds, guitar, light exercise, painting, drawing, and more.

I have had some amphibians before, such as african dwarf frogs as well as a pacman frog. I've kept other herps as well I just don't feel like listing them at the moment.

I am interested in learning about various newt care now that I have a 75 gallon aquarium (cycled filter) free.

Hello and welcome,

Biggest things to keep in mind for newts is 1) they need a top. They can climb glass, not well, but well enough to escape any hole near an edge big enough for their head to fit through. And 2) generally the species we keep in the hobby need water temperatures in the 60s. You can accomplish this by directing a small fan to blow on the water's surface which will drop the temperature up to 6 degrees below ambient.

Otherwise their care is extremely similar to other aquaria. Regular water changes, plants, good food (preferred live, but some will accept prepared foods or frozen) and so forth is all they need. What species were you thinking of?
