A few months ago, I experimented with freezing a dozen live crickets. I was using a cricket cage complete with cricket food and a water gel container in an effort to keep them alive until feeding time.
During this time, the crickets seem to be dying off in droves, so I decided to try the frozen approach that works perfectly. I'll buy crickets in bulk then freeze them , then take out a dozen or so, thaw them out, then feed my two Tiger salamanders with foreceps. Both take the thawed out crickers redily. This has solved my dying cricket problem. I will also feed the sallamanders a pinkie once a month as a treat.
